Avalon Carver’s Mobile STEM Labs (MSL) is committed to educational reform that invests in experiential STEM learning opportunities for under-resourced communities.  To that end, we are dedicated to helping LAUSD achieve educational equity for all its students, but especially for those who are underrepresented in STEM careers. Our goal is to build a strong, diverse, and socially conscious tech workforce by leveling the playing field by delivering high quality STEM education for Black and Latinx students. We envision a world where every student, regardless of their zip code, can participate and thrive in a digital and global economy.

MSL is a hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) program geared towards positively impacting the lives of marginalized student in underserved communities. Mobile STEM Labs works to strengthen the STEM skills of participants and provides exposure to STEM careers through fun and engaging curriculum. The instructors are culturally diverse individuals with STEM backgrounds. The curriculum is aligned with Next Generation Science Standards to support the California Science Test (CAST) Preparation and Common Core standards to enhance English Language Arts skills through the use of Science terminology. Students are introduced to concepts in Life Science, Earth and Space Science, Engineering, Technology and Physical Science.
